Dress Up

A colleague at work (50+ woman) said to me today with an ironic voice "What do you wear when you dress up? I mean you dress up all the time. You just sit here, calling people and no one sees you and you wear nice clothes anyway". Yeah what's the point!? Ha. Does she think that I dress up for people so they will notice me? Or was it a compliment? Hu!

I think most of us dress up because it's fun and we love to choose outfits that makes us happy. You don't have to wear a tracksuit or a strict suit at work (unless you want to or you have to) or no just wear what you want and if it's something you're comfortable in then 10 points to you. Besides, does it matter if you'll see anyone or not when you've got your favourite dress, lipstick or blazer on? No! It will just make your day (sort of)!

She was obviously brought up to believe that we only dress to impress others, which is rather unfortunate. I'd totally take it as a compliment dear, you should always dress for yourself and to make you feel good :)

I got the same, ahem, compliment too. I find it weird that some people believe dressing up is just for others and not for yourself.
